Wet Wet Wet Announce Two Intimate Shows to Introduce New Singer Kevin Simm

Wet Wet Wet will be returning to their roots playing two intimate shows to introduce their new singer Kevin Simm, who is best known for his time in noughties pop sensation Liberty X and as winner of the 2016 series of The Voice.

As bass player Graeme Clark explains, the moment Kevin sang with the group it was obvious that he was the man for the job “From the first song we played together, Julia Says, we knew instantly, I knew pretty much in the first 30 seconds. He puts me back in touch with that soul feeling we had when we first started”.  Keyboard player Neil Mitchell agrees, “It just worked, it just seems natural to me”.

Kevin is equally effusive of the band saying, “I was really taken aback, the opportunity to join a band with such amazing songs and great guys and a great fanbase really excites meWhen I first started gigging around the pubs and clubs up North two songs that were always in my set were Goodnight Girl and Love Is All Around”.

Bursting onto the scene out of Glasgow in 1987, Wet Wet Wet has undeniably been a musical phenomenon. The band have gone on to sell over 15 million albums and singles, spent over 500 weeks on the UK charts and sold hundreds of thousands of gig tickets.

Original singer Marti Pellow departed the group last year and while the band wish him well, they feel as though they still have something to say musically. Drummer Tommy Cunningham says “All credit to Marti, he said he couldn’t give 100% to Wet Wet Wet . We were only managing two or three shows a year, and as a musician, you can’t do that”.

The band are excited at the prospect of recording new material with Kevin. Graeme Clark “What’s really exciting me is how this is going to manifest itself going forward, we’re going to go out and do dates, and after that, we’ll write some songs”.

About Wet Wet Wet

When Wet Wet Wet first burst onto the music scene in 1987 they said of themselves “We are first and foremost a soul band – not only in influence and direction but more importantly in attitude and ambition

In 2018 that statement is truer than ever and in Kevin Simm the band have found someone who not only shares their vision but has one of the finest male soul voices that the UK has to offer.

Fans who are already signed up to the Wet Wet Wet mailing will have exclusive access to the VERY limited pre-sale from 9am on Wednesday 26th September 2018.
